On Thursday 9 November, the A Level textiles students enjoyed visiting the Diva exhibition at the V&A, which celebrated stage icons throughout time, from the Opera and silver screen through to current Met Gala looks. It reclaimed the word ‘Diva’ and the boldness of staying true to one’s identity through self-expression. From here, they went on to the Design Museum for the Rebel; 30 years of London Fashion exhibition – in collaboration with the British Fashion Council. Work was showcased from Newgen scheme participants, of up-coming designers that included Lee Alexander McQueen as one of its first cohorts. It highlighted London as being one of the forerunners in World Fashion and was an inspiration to many of the students who have big aspirations of getting into the Industry!
