Delighted sixth form students at Claremont Fan Court School received their A level results in August 2023, with over three quarters of results graded A*-B and 97% of pupils gaining places at their preferred universities. Mr William Brierly, headmaster, said ‘I am so proud of all these amazing young people, they are heading off to first rate universities and degree apprenticeships including Durham, Bristol, UCL, Manchester and Leeds. In spite of the newly adjusted 2023 grading structure, the results our students achieved today are better than any pre-pandemic results at Claremont.’ Head of sixth form Mrs Emma Wells commented ‘I’m so pleased that universities and colleges have recognised that our students have worked extremely hard and have shown so much resilience over the past few years. Our students have achieved results that they should be extremely proud of, I am absolutely delighted for them all.’ Students commented on the incredible support they received from teaching staff at the school, including one to one clinics, pastoral support and specialist revision sessions which made a huge difference in how they felt approaching exams.
“She moved here from a different school which we felt was a lot more pressurised, but she has actually done better in this nurturing environment. It is testament to this school, how each child can flourish, grow and exceed their potential”

Student Stories
Matt
We are immensely proud of our head student, Matt, for getting an A* in business studies, an A in design technology and a B in maths. These fantastic grades meant that he got into Loughborough University to study product design, which has a placement opportunity in the third year. He would like to thank his teachers who “offered so many different levels of support, especially in clinics” and feels that “they couldn’t have done anything better to be honest”. He is “delighted” and “can’t wait to get going in Loughborough”.
Izzy
Izzy achieved outstanding results of A*, A*, A* in psychology, business studies and sociology. She enjoyed studying psychology so much, that she had decided to pursue it in higher education. After joining us from another school, Izzy has “done better in this nurturing environment” according to her proud mother. She goes on to say that “It is testament to this school how each child can flourish, grow and exceed their potential”. She will miss all the teachers that supported her to get these grades, and most of all, “making toast in between sociology periods”! We wish her the best of luck starting at Leeds University in September!
Rishi
Rishi is “over the moon” with his B, B, B grades in history, German and music. He has got a place at his first choice, University of Manchester, which he “couldn’t be happier” about. Music has been a huge part of Rishi’s time at here at Claremont and he would like to thank Mr Affonso and Mr Hitchcock for supporting him throughout his journey. Rishi described Claremont as “the loving and caring school that has shaped me into the person I am today.” We wish him the best of luck with this new chapter of his life and we are sure he will continue to delight audiences with his violin performances.
Zac
After enjoying his time as first team rugby captain in the sixth form, Zac has excelled in his exams and received A, A, B in maths, business studies and economics. Beyond sixth form, Zac will be doing a degree apprenticeship at SAP which is big opportunity. He would like to thank Mr Rocca for the support he got in business studies and economics. After competing in sport since Year 5 at Claremont, Zac is going to miss his all his sports teams who are “such a close knit of friends”. Congratulations on getting your apprenticeship at SAP Zac!
