We understand that choosing the right setting for your child can be a daunting process, especially at the start of their school journey. Our friendly and knowledgeable admissions team are on hand to guide you every step of the way.
As a gently selective school, which places children at the centre of our thinking, we aim to offer an admissions process which helps you and your child to feel confident that you have found your best fit school. We hope to do this by inviting you to come to visit our school to see behind the scenes and our classrooms in action, likewise, we hope to get to know your child as part of our considered admissions approach.
RECEPTION
Children join in the September following their fourth birthday attending five full days per week. We recommend you visit and apply in the summer term of the year ahead of joining (so in the summer term of your child’s pre-nursery year) or early in the autumn term prior to entry. We hold our main admissions review sessions for reception joiners in the summer term of a child’s pre-nursery or autumn term of nursery.
We always welcome reception applications at other times and will invite children individually for a classroom visit where places are available.
YEARS 3 TO 5
We have places available for entry into Years 3, 4 and 5 at the start of each academic year and we hold our main assessment for these places in November of the autumn term prior to entry. We recommend you visit in the summer term prior to application.
We also welcome enquiries at other times during the year and will consider applications for entry within the current academic year as well as, more typically, for the next academic where spaces are still available.
Please contact the admissions team if you are interested in spaces for Year 1, Year 2 or Year 6 so we can understand your needs and let you know about availability.
1. Visit
All prospective families are warmly invited to visit us for an open day or a family tour (or both!). This is an ideal opportunity to view our outstanding facilities, expansive outdoor grounds and to discuss how we can best support your child. Families with older children joining into Year 5 and above are also welcome to visit one of our senior school open events to get a true sense of their onwards journey with us.
At open mornings members of our teaching team and senior staff are available to give you insight into our learning approach and answer questions you may have alongside a tour of our classrooms in action. Family tours are with a member of our admissions team who will give you the opportunity to explore all parts of the school campus, see our classrooms in action and delighted to help with any questions you may have.
2. Apply
Applications are completed online and include your child’s most recent school report (where applicable), a photo and offer the opportunity for you to tell us a little more about your child and how they learn. There is a non-refundable application fee of £150 per child, and in the case of siblings, an application is needed for each child.
3. Review and assessment
As a gently selective school, we invite all of our prospective children for an admissions visit.
Reception to Year 2 children are invited to spend the morning alongside peers and will complete gentle tasks with one of our teachers in line with age related expectations.
For Years 3 to 6 entry, we welcome children for our Saturday assessment morning in the autumn term prior to entry. We are mindful that for many children this will be their first experience of assessment and our aim is to put them at ease from the moment they arrive. While your child is with us, they will complete an age-appropriate maths and English assessment along with a creative writing activity, all completed in a supportive small group environment. We aim to make the experience as relaxed as possible and your child may ask for guidance at any time and we try to have a little fun along the way too!
4. Outcome and next steps
We then contact families to discuss the outcomes for their child and next steps.
Families accepting an offer will be asked to complete and return the relevant paperwork alongside the acceptance deposit in order to secure the place for their child. Children are then invited in the summer term to join their new classmates for a settling in afternoon ahead of joining the school in September.
