Yesterday, our team competed in the ISGA Semi-Final Plate competition against Worth at their home course, Copthorne Golf Course. It was a tough day on the course, and despite everyone’s best efforts, we unfortunately came up short.
A huge congratulations to all the boys for their hard work and dedication throughout the competition. You all played with great spirit. Max G, Giles H, Joshua H.
This competition also marks a bittersweet moment as it is Max G’s last golf fixture for Claremont. We would like to thank Max for his unwavering commitment to Claremont Golf and for always representing the school with pride. We wish him all the best as he embarks on his next adventure in America, where he will be pursuing a golf scholarship. Well done to all the players, and we look forward to seeing you continue to shine both on and off the course!
Ethan G qualified for and competed at the English Championships up in Telford this weekend. He achieved his best ever overall finish – 16th place with some notable achievements
4th Place on Vault – Top 10 on Floor – 11th on Rings
It is his first year in the U18 age group – there are a number of Team GB and England Squad boys in the age group as well, so he is delighted (and we are very proud!) to qualify for the British Championships up in Liverpool in a fortnight.
A Team: Dominated the competition all day, winning every single game, and fought hard in the final. Although they narrowly lost 3-2 to Guildford, they were the strongest team on the day and gave it their all.
B Team: Fought with incredible heart in every match and made it to the semi-final in the Shield. Tough luck, but they never gave up!
C Team: Had an amazing run in the group stage with a mix of wins and losses. They gave it their all in the Plate semi-final but fell short. So proud of their effort and teamwork.
D Team: Struggled early in the tournament but ended the day on a high, finishing with a big win! Great resilience and determination.
Overall, an unforgettable day of lacrosse for their first ever County tournament and a great end to their season. We are proud of every single player for their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship.
The U12A netball team delivered an outstanding performance at the SNS Sport Final in Loughborough, securing an impressive second-place finish in a highly competitive tournament.
In the semi-final match, they faced a highly competitive opponent, and the game was nail-biting. Both teams displayed exceptional skill and determination, but it was our U12A squad that clinched victory with a dramatic golden goal, sealing a 25-24 win. The players demonstrated resilience and teamwork under immense pressure, showcasing their ability to perform in high-stakes moments.
The final saw the team go head-to-head against another strong competitor where they narrowly missed out on the top spot, finishing second overall in the tournament. The squad should be very proud.
The U12A netball team showcased their skill and determination at the Surrey Schools Finals, delivering an impressive performance against tough competition. Despite a challenging day, they narrowly missed out on securing third place, demonstrating resilience and teamwork throughout the tournament. The team exhibited strong defensive play where the players worked tirelessly to intercept passes and disrupt attacking plays, ensuring they remained a formidable force on the court.
Although the final standings saw them just missing out on a podium finish, their performance was a testament to their hard work and dedication. Their defensive discipline and strategic play were evident in each game, and they can take great pride in their achievements at such a high level of competition.
A fabulous display of netball from our U14s ABC squads against Notre dame last week with a triple win!
All teams had a fantastic time, and it was a great display of the progress and skill development they have made so far this year! Well, done to all involved!
A terrific day out, with matches played in brilliant sunshine, full of endeavour and commitment, saw Claremont U14s come away with the Bowl trophy.
Rallying following defeats to Caterham, and narrowly to both Tiffin and Halliford, Claremont beat Downsend and Christ’s Hospital to finish 4th in the pool, meaning a quarter final against CLFS, who were beaten by a Golden try – the first to score after the match ended 14-14. Claremont then narrowly defeated Richard Challinor, before romping to victory over Weydon 33-5 in the Bowl Final.
Seven games, sore limbs, broad smiles and some terrible singing on the way home, it was quite an adventure. Thanks to the supporting band of parents, and to this great bunch of boys, who battled hard for each other all day. A slow start, but to take home some silverware was deserved reward for an increasing confidence as the day unfolded. Congratulations to captain Eden M and his squad.
Claremont convincingly won the Box Hill Anderson Cup, proving too strong for all comers on a beautiful afternoon in the Surrey Hills. Glynn provided a sterner test in the Final, but Claremont pulled clear to take the silver ware 5-2, after convincing victories in the pool and Semi final matches.
Adri was a human dynamo, Roshi the go to try machine. Tom won abundant possession at the breakdown, with good distribution from Hugo, Jack and Will providing multiple scoring opportunities. Next week, the Surrey Sevens will provide a much sterner test, but this morale boost sets the team on the right path. Well played boys, that was fun.
On Wednesday 5th March, the U12 sevens team travelled down the road to the prestigious Shrewsbury house 7s. Unfortunately, three games in close proximity saw the boys battle hard on tired legs. Great solo scores from Aaron and Will kept Claremont in their group games. Unfortunately they only progressed into the Bowl tournament. Further close game saw the side lose but not without hard work and determination from Jimmy and Charlie B. A great win at the end was a nice reward for the boys’ efforts. Player of the tournament went to Tiaam for powerful rucking.
